W.I.C. – Women, Infants, and Children
Preschoolers require nutritional attention, and the Women, Infants, and Children (W.I.C.) program seeks to meet these needs for low-income families in Oklahoma City. Through the W.I.C. program, the Oklahoma City-County Health Department provides nutritional services for low-income pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants and preschoolers up to age five and to any qualifying children with special nutritional requirements.
Things to Know
- W.I.C. services are available by appointment only. There may be a waiting list, so book your appointment early.
- Bring your photo I.D. and your preschooler’s birth certificate and Social Security number.
- If you receive government assistance such as food stamps or TANF, have your case number handy. Be prepared to bring any financial documents or proof of income.
- Fortunately, W.I.C. appointments generally don’t require lengthy waiting room time. W.I.C. seems to understand that mothers might find it difficult to keep their preschoolers quiet and occupied!
